Itinerary of your Weekend Getaway in San Francisco

Day 1 - Friday:

Arrival at your hotel, Hotel des Arts*, which is perfectly located in the heart of downtown, a couple of blocks from Union Square and right at the entrance to Chinatown. Dinner at leisure (not included).

Day 2 - Saturday:

Today you will discover San Francisco through the lens of its diverse communities during a graffiti workshop and walking tours of two neighborhoods.

Start your day with a graffiti workshop at a local gallery to learn the rich history behind graffiti and its impact on local artist communities. You will discover the tricks of the trade and try your hand at this art form with the guidance of a local expert

Continue with a guided tour of Chinatown, with stops at a fortune cookie factory and a local eatery where you’ll sample authentic dimsum. Your local expert will highlight both the historic wave of Chinese immigration and its enduring legacy.

Next you’ll cross into San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood, also known as Little Italy. Stop for a cup of coffee at a local institution, enjoy the lawn of Washington Square Park, and get to know the pulse of the Beat generation at the storied City Lights Bookstore.

Optional excursion: In the afternoon, head to the non-profit Tenderloin Museum to discover the rich cultural, architectural and political history of the neighborhood. After your visit and with this context in mind, enjoy a narrated walking tour of the neighborhood. One of the most important stops on our tour will be at the GLIDE Memorial Church, known for its social justice work.

Your tour will conclude at La Cocina Marketplace, a local non-profit whose mission is to support women and minority entrepreneurs as they create and expand their food focused businesses. One snack is included but we encourage you to hang out and indulge in the diverse and delicious offerings.

Day 3 - Sunday:

Check out after breakfast. Say goodbye to your group and guide. Day at leisure.

Optional excursion: In 2017 San Francisco became the first city in the US where all residents lived within a 10-minute walk of a park. Today you will enjoy a 2-hour guided bike tour of the city's most impressive green space: Golden Gate Park. You will also visit the Japanese Tea Garden, the oldest public Japanese garden in the United States, followed by a picnic in the park during which you might be entertained by a performance from the Golden Gate Band! Finish your tour with a guided tour of the hippie neighborhood Haight-Ashbury, and a fresh beer at a local microbrewery.

*Accommodations may vary based on departure date. The final hotel confirmation will be sent to you 15 days before your departure.
