  • Explore six national parks with time to hike in each one: Joshua Tree, Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion, Death Valley, and Yosemite.

  • Enjoy three nights in San Francisco in a centrally located hotel in the heart of city, close to Union Square. You will feel right at home in the City by the Bay, and will love discovering its eclectic neighborhoods, with the famous Victorian houses and views over the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay.

  • Discover the Big Sur coastline on the scenic Highway 1, where the majestic Santa Lucia range towers above dramatic cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

  • Spend a whole day visiting Los Angeles, from the hills of Hollywood to the shores of the Pacific Ocean at Santa Monica and Venice Beach.

Itinerary of your National Parks Vacation

Day 1: Los Angeles

Arrival in Los Angeles. Take the complimentary shuttle to your hotel located near the airport. You’ll meet your guide and your traveling companions over a complimentary drink this evening during our Meet and Greet (if your arrival time permits). Your local tour director can answer any questions you have about the tour. You’ll also receive a travel kit including a reusable water bottle and an insulated bag. They’ll both come in handy during your planned picnics.

Day 2: Los Angeles

Guided tour of Los Angeles. You will visit historic Olvera Street, Hollywood, stop at the Los Angeles Original Farmer’s Market for lunch (not included), then continue on to Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive, and end at Santa Monica for a scenic walk along the Pacific Ocean to Venice Beach.

Day 3: Los Angeles – Las Vegas

This morning, journey to Joshua Tree National Park and walk on one of the scenic trails. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park. (A stop will be planned before arrival into the park to purchase picnic items.) In the afternoon, drive to Las Vegas.

Day 4: Las Vegas - Grand Canyon

Head towards the South Rim of the awe-inspiring Grand Canyon and hike along the edge. This will certainly be one of the highlights of your trip.

Day 5: Grand Canyon - Monument Valley – Page

Depart the Grand Canyon rim on scenic Desert View Drive and head to Monument Valley. At Monument Valley you’ll take a Jeep tour where you’ll see the famous sandstone buttes and colossal mesas the area is known for. Then you’ll sit down for an authentic Navajo lunch. After your visit, you'll head to Page, where you’ll have the chance to go for a swim in famous Lake Powell.

Day 6: Page – Horseshoe Bend – Bryce

You’ll start the day with a visit to Horseshoe Bend, where the river has carved a canyon 1000 feet deep in the sandstone and go on a short hike before continuing to Bryce Canyon, one of the jewels of the National Parks system.  At Bryce, you’ll get a chance to hike down the canyon and get closer to the thin spires of rock known as hoodoos.

Day 7: Bryce Canyon – Zion – Las Vegas

Head to Zion National Park to marvel at the drama of Zion Canyon before returning to Las Vegas. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure; try your luck gambling, do some shopping, or enjoy on of the many world class entertainment options the city has to offer.

Optional add-on: join your guide on a tour of Las Vegas by night.

Day 8: Las Vegas - Death Valley – Mammoth Lakes

Drive through the Nevada desert to reach Death Valley, one of the hottest places on earth. Discover Furnace Creek and the sand dunes of Stovepipe Wells before driving to Mammoth Lakes in the Sierra Nevada foothills.

Day 9: Mammoth Lakes – Yosemite – San Francisco

Enjoy a scenic drive on the Tioga pass to enter Yosemite National Park, with its Alpine landscape, pine forests, waterfalls, and rivers, all with the silhouette of great white monoliths in the background. Continue towards San Francisco for a three night stay.

Day 10: San Francisco

Take a guided tour of the city by the bay, San Francisco is a tantalizing mix of history, modern sophistication, and stunning natural beauty. Enjoy a panoramic view from Twin Peaks walk through Golden Gate Park, see Alamo Square and its “Painted Ladies,” then visit Golden Gate Bridge and Fisherman's Wharf.  

 

Day 11: San Francisco - Sausalito - San Francisco

Today we’re crossing the Golden Gate Bridge for a short hike to Muir Beach, before visiting the charming Sausalito, famous for its waterfront cafés, art galleries, and house boats. Take a ferry ride back to San Francisco and enjoy the afternoon at leisure.

 

Day 12: San Francisco - Monterey - Carmel – San Luis Obispo

Explore Monterey and Carmel, charming coastal towns with pristine beaches, amazing art galleries and notable artisanal food and wine producers. Enjoy the stunning coastline and towering redwoods on your drive south along the Big Sur coastline to San Luis Obispo.

Day 13: San Luis Obispo - Santa Barbara - Los Angeles

This morning we explore Santa Barbara and its beautiful mission before stopping in Malibu to visit the Adamson House, a National Historic Site and California Historic Landmark. Situated near the Malibu Lagoon, the house boasts an exotic mix of Spanish and Moorish influences with dazzling displays of decorative tiles. End your trip at the Griffith Observatory for some of the best views of Downtown L.A. and the Hollywood sign.

Day 14: Departure

Enjoy the day on your own and transfer to the airport according to your flight schedule.

 

* Accommodations may vary based on departure date. The final hotel list will be sent to you 15 days before your departure.

* This tour has several hikes that require a moderate level of fitness. Expect up to six hours of driving between each location.

* Airport transfers: please give us your flight number and arrival time no later than 31 days before your travel date.

You will meet a Navajo guide in Monument Valley and have a chance to learn about their local community. During the tours and free time, you will have opportunities to support the local community by shopping at farmers' markets, local stores and galleries. 

Cancellation Policy

If you must cancel your reservation, your cancellation fee will be determined according to the terms outlined below:

  • Full refund if cancellation is received 32 days or more from the departure date, minus the deposit ($200 per room)

  • 50% of the tour per person cancelled will be due for cancellation received between 31 and 8 days of the departure date

  • No refund will be provided for cancellation received between 8 days of departure and the departure date

The tour requires a minimum number of people. If it’s cancelled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.
